Haiti top CFU 5th Place in Scotiabank CFU Mens Caribbean Cup Playoff

ST.JOHN'S, Antigua (January 9, 2017) -- A double by Jean Baptiste Andrew and one each by Etienne Derrick and Belfort Kervens Fils steered Haiti to 4-3,extra-time victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the third and final match of the Scotiabank CFU 5th Place Playoff.

The win, three for three for Haiti in the Playoff, saw the Les Grenadiers advance to a Playoff against a still-to-be determined team from UNCAF for a 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup spot.

Shahdon Winchester had a hat-trick in Trinidad and Tobago's losing effort in a match played at Ato Boldon Stadium in Port-of-Spain on Sunday, January 8.

In the previous match on Friday, January 6, Haiti beat Suriname 4-2.  Suriname defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-1 in extra time in the Playoff opener on Wednesday, January 4.

The four group winners from the Scotiabank CFU Men's Caribbean Cup Round 3, Jamaica, French Guiana, Curacao and Martinique, have already qualified for the Gold Cup, which will be played from July 7-26, 2017, as well as the Men's Caribbean Cup Finals, from June 22-25, 2017.
