Martinique selected as hosts for Scotiabank CFU Men's Caribbean Cup Finals

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua (January 25, 2017) -- The finals of the Scotiabank CFU Men's Caribbean Cup 2016 edition will be held in Martinique, which bid successfully over Curacao and French Guiana to host the Caribbean Football Union's premier event. The finals are scheduled for June 22-25,2017.

The fixture was, meanwhile, decided during a live draw on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the St. John's, Antigua office of the CFU.

Defending champions Jamaica will take on French Guiana in the opener on June 22 at 6pm. Curacao will take on Martinique at 8:30 pm

The loser of Match 1 will play the loser of Match 2 on June 25 at 5 pm in the third-place match. The champions will be decided when the winners of the Match 1 and Match 2 play on June 25 at 7:30 pm.

The finalists topped their groups after three rounds of competition which began in March 2016. In addition to deciding the Caribbean football champions, the Men's Caribbean Cup qualifies team to the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Curacao, French Guiana, Jamaica and Martinique are already assured of spaces in the July 7-26, 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Haiti, which triumphed in the CFU 5th Place Playoff, will play Central American Football Union (UNCAF) 5th Place Playoff winner Nicaragua for a Gold Cup spot.
