Jamaica's Female Football Match Officials Create History

The Jamaica Football Federation extends its joyous and proud congratulations to Assistant FIFA Referees Stephanie Yee-Sing and Princess Brown who will officiate in the Final of the 2018 FIFA Under 17 Women's World Cup. The  final will be played between Mexico and Spain on December 1 in Uruguay.

This is the first time that any match official, male or female, from the Caribbean will officiate in a World Cup Final.

Both officials have been refereeing for approximately six years and have officiated in previous Under 17 and Senior World Cup events, but never in a Final.

"This is yet another historic moment for Jamaica" stated President of the JFF, Mr. Michael Ricketts, " a testimony to years of extremely hard work, discipline, guidance by instructors, courage and dedication. What an excellent year for women in football! We wish them an excellent match as they represent the country and the region".

The JFF is particularly proud because this achievement falls well within the strategic goals of the Federation for the women's program which is to increase the quantity and quality of women in the sport as players, administrators as coaches and match officials
