Jamaica’s Reggae Gilz defeated Chile 1-0 on Thursday night in the first of two friendly internationals against the South American team.
Central midfielder Marlo Sweatman had the lone conversion of the match in the ninth minute when she scored directly from a corner kick. It was Sweatman’s third international goal.
The match, which was played at the National Stadium, was a warm-up for the senior team which four months ago secured an historic berth to the FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer in France.
Sunday’s game two will take place at the Montego Bay Sports Complex. The Chileans, like the Jamaicans, are using the matches as preparation for the World Cup.
