Reggae Girlz defeat Panama 3-1

Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz on Sunday treated their fans to a fitting farewell on their way to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France with a 3-1 defeat of Panama.

The match, the last home game for the Girlz who will next play Scotland at Hampden Park on May 27, was played at the National Stadium.

Khadija “Bunny” Shaw scored in the 29th and 49th minutes, bringing her international tally to 29. Substitute Shakira Duncan scored the other goal for Jamaica in the 79th minutes. Duncan now has 24 international goals.

Panama’s goal was courtesy team captain Natalia Mills in the 64th minute. The Jamaicans played a spirited match, much to the delight of the large home crowd.

The Reggae Girlz will be the lone Caribbean team contesting the World Cup, which will be played between June 7 and July 7.
