PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (May 1, 2016) -- Hosts Don Bosco FC defeated Jamaica's Arnett Gardens FC 2-0 to clinch third place in the Caribbean Football Union Club Championships and book a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Both teams played with determination, and the first half was punctuated with end-to-end action with Arnett seeking their first goal of the tournament and Don Bosco playing for the loyal fans.
Arnett had an early chance cleared from the line as Don Bosco's Venel Saint Fort made sure his team stayed in the hunt for third place. Some good work from Don Bosco wide-man Folson Philemond helped the home side create some chances and apply pressure on the Jamaicans.
Don Bosco's breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Saint Fort fired a shot from over 20 yards out, beating Arnett Gardens' goalkeeper Damian Hyatt.
Don Bosco FC then picked up the pace for the rest of the first half as Arnett struggled to maintain rhythm.
