St. John’s, Antigua – The 2017 edition of the Caribbean Club Championship kicked off in Antigua and Barbuda with group A, hosted by Greenbay Hoppers FC.
Racing FC (HAITI) 2 – 2 Inter Moengo Tapoe (Suriname)
Markens Dorisca 17’, 81’ (RACING FC) – Kareem Kwasie 9’, Naldo Kwasie 68’ (INTER)
The first encounter of group A saw Inter Meongo Tapoe of Suriname taking an early lead in the 9th minute with a goal from Kareem Kwasie. Racing FC would later equalize as Markens Dorisca scored his first goal of the match in the 17th minute of play. But Inter Moengo Tapoe would take the lead again in the second half with Naldo Kwasie making it 2 – 1 in the 68th minute. Racing FC would pull back another goal in the 81st minute ending them match 2 – 2.
Greenbay Hoppers (Antigua) FC 2 – 1 Bequia United FC (St. Vincent)
Tomorley Thomas 16’ (Hoppers) – Kamal Ollivierre 28’, Kamol Bess 70’ (OG) (Bequia)
Host club Greenbay Hoppers FC opened their group A account with a victory over Bequia United FC in the feature encounter. Tomorley Thomas would give the host a lead in in the 16th minute of play. Bequia United would pull a goal back in the 28th minute through Kamal Ollivierre as the first half ended 1 – 1. The winning goal would come from an own goal scored by Kamol Bess in the 70th minute ended the match 2 – 1 in favour of the host.
